RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Protect life and property.
  • Prevent and suppress crime.
  • Apprehend violators of the law.
  • Preserve public order.

DUTIES:

A.   Located and serve civil process on individual(s) named in the process.
  • Serve and execute Writs of Possession as issued by County, out-of-county and circuit courts.
  • Enforce all Writs of Execution and Writs of Replevin.
  • Locate and arrest persons with outstanding civil arrest orders and transport same to the Hernando County Jail.
  • Locate and take into custody those persons with outstanding ex-parte orders, transport same to the Crisis Center or appropriate facility.
  • Enforce child custody orders.
  • Perform all other duties as required or assigned by higher authority.
  • Serve Ex-Parte and Injunctions for Protection. 
  • Serve temporary and final Risk Protection Orders to respondents, taking time to explain the contents of the order, the pleading, and any attachments.
B.   Prepare, maintain case files, investigate and serve RPOs. 
  • Prepares petitions, affidavits, and supporting documentation for RPO filings in coordination with legal counsel and/or the courts.
  • Serves temporary and final RPOs; ensures safe and lawful seizure of firearms and ammunition and explain the contents of the orders and any other documents. 
  • Conduct investigations into incidents meeting the criteria established in Florida State Statue (F.S.S) 790.401 the Hernando County Sheriff's Office General Order 5020.10 (Risk Protection Order)
  • Maintain case files for filed and served Risk Protection Orders to include follow up with victims, witnesses, and respondents for potential violations and or extension.
  • Monitor and review calls for service, within the Patrol Division, for potential necessity for Risk Protection Order Investigations.

*** This position will primarily involve afternoon shifts, with flexibility required as scheduling may change.***
