RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducting follow-up and/or original investigations.
  • Identification and apprehension of persons perpetrating crimes. 
  • Coordinating and assisting with the collection, identification, evaluation and preservation of evidence in (assigned) criminal investigations.
  • Proper and independent preparation of all cases investigated for the State Attorney's Office, Grand Jury, and other prosecutorial or judicial authority.
  • Responding as directed to crime scenes to conduct special investigations, interviews of suspects, complainants, and witnesses.
  • Follow-up investigations, when assigned.  
  • Investigating, when assigned, any cases concerning crimes against minor children.
  • Preparing concise written reports of investigation.
  • Developing informants for the purpose of gathering information, criminal intelligence, and evidence associated with criminal matters.
  • Performing public relation duties as assigned.
  • Appearing at State Attorney's Office investigations and court sessions as required.
  • Attending specialized courses and seminars as required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Investigators assigned to the Major Case Section are responsible for the follow-up investigations of most felony crimes, and other criminal investigations as assigned.
