In order to provide a well-disciplined and trained team, with the capabilities to diffuse situations involving barricaded subjects, disturbed suicidal persons, hostage takers, and other persons in crisis, the following factors are established:
- CRT members shall possess a true interest in people and the desire to listen to their needs.
- CRT members shall be self-motivated and demonstrate a patient attitude when working with the public as well as other agency members.
- CRT members shall have leadership qualities that instill confidence and ability to control these incidents.
- CRT members shall operate under a philosophy that a successful outcome is possible in given situations, and maintain that belief even when it appears otherwise.
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a sworn law enforcement officer
- Successful completion of probationary period.
- Good rapport with others.
- Ability to understand and communicate with a diversity of people
- Possess calm, rational demeanor
