CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS
Under the general supervision of the human resources director, the wellness coordinator is responsible for development and execution of health and fitness programs for employees and their dependents. The position requires strong people skills, empathic listening, strong communications, ability to effectively promote programs and inspire people.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
- Coordinate all wellness/fitness activities of the agency. Coordinate the wellness committee.
- Liaison with My Health Onsite, Florida Blue, Cigna, and other carriers as appropriate, to maximize coordination of wellness efforts and maximize the use of existing/available resources.
- Plan and execute annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly wellness programming.
- Plan and execute weekly health/wellness promotion using a variety of methods and media.
- Undertake initiatives to maximize the number of employees and dependents undergoing annual physical and/or wellness exams, pre-natal care, etc. to facilitate early detection and proactively address issues.
- Develop and administrate incentive programs.
- Plan, market, and coordinate special health/wellness initiatives such as Lifescan, calcium scoring, vaccinations, etc.
- Oversee/maintain agency fitness centers.
- Liaison with other community resources to provide a comprehensive wellness program that meets the needs and interests of the maximum number of employees.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Training and Experience
- Required: Associate degree in health education, exercise science, nutrition or related field from an accredited college or university. Two years related program experience. A combination of education and direct and relevant experience may be considered.
- Preferred: Wellness program experience in a mid-sized organization. Training or education as a dietitian or nutritionist and/or kinesiologist.
- Knowledge of a broad range of wellness and fitness topics and a commitment to wellness and the promotion of life learning.
- Contemporaneous knowledge in current health, wellness, and fitness research.
- Knowledge of current Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other software as required.
- Ability to establish relationships with administrators and employees to promote participation in sponsored programs, and to motivate them to set and reach health goals.
- Ability to conduct benchmarking analysis, and environment and culture assessments to aid in program development.
- Ability to act as a liaison to gather ideas and sponsor events (such as an annual Benefits Fair and fitness classes) and leverage the medical plans for wellness initiatives.
- Ability to work with the insurance broker, insurance carriers and others to increase employee participation in lifestyle management programs
- Ability to maintain confidential documents and information and keep abreast of HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Ability to integrate wellness/fitness program initiatives into culture and organizational mission.
- Ability to appear and perform as scheduled for work, conferences, and other assigned tasks.

- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
- Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).
- Ability to engage in rigorous physical activities related to health and wellness (demonstrate or perform various exercises -- lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds
